How Points Are Awarded in Hockey Hoopers

  1. Goals Scored
Each time one of your players scores a goal in a real game, you earn points.

Forwards and Defensemen: +3 points

Goalies: +5 points for a goal scored (rare, but it can happen!)

  1. Assists
When a player assists in a goal, you earn points as well.

Forwards and Defensemen: +2 points for each assist

Goalies: +1 point for an assist

  1. Saves
Goalkeepers earn points based on the number of saves they make.

Goalies: +0.5 points for every save

  1. Shots on Goal
Players who get shots on goal are rewarded.

Forwards and Defensemen: +0.5 points for each shot on goal

  1. Hits & Blocks
Physical players earn points for hits and blocked shots, reflecting their impact on the game.

Forwards and Defensemen: +0.5 points for each hit and block

  1. Penalty Minutes
Unfortunately, penalties come at a cost. Players who spend time in the penalty box lose points.

All Players: -0.5 points for every 2 minutes in the penalty box

  1. Power Play Points
When a player scores or assists on a power play, it’s considered a significant contribution.

Forwards and Defensemen: +1 point for each power play goal or assist

Goalies: +2 points for a power play assist (if involved)

  1. Wins and Shutouts (For Goalies)
Goalies are particularly important in fantasy hockey. A win and a shutout bring big rewards.

Goalies: +5 points for a win, +10 points for a shutout

  1. Plus/Minus
This statistic reflects a player’s performance in terms of their team’s goal differential.

Forwards and Defensemen: +1 point for each goal scored while on the ice, and -1 point for a goal conceded while on the ice

  1. Overtime & Shootout Performance
Extra time and shootouts can impact the game’s final outcome, giving additional points to key performers.

Forwards and Defensemen: +1 point for each point earned in overtime or shootout

Goalies: +2 points for saving a penalty in the shootout
